Thanksgiving is over and the left-over pie was a perfect breakfast aboard Watchfire, snugly tucked into our slip in Port Townsend. On Thanksgiving Eve we took a bus to UpTownsend for a night out. First, I dropped off some books at Aldrich's, so you may find it there, now. Then we walked downtown and had a lovely dinner at the Alchemy Bistro and came home with our coats buttoned tightly across full tummies.
Yesterday included a beach walk through the driftwood graveyard that is the beach at the head of the Larry Scott Trail and then walked out the trail a little ways before shopping. Dinner was casual and cozy, just a salmon filet in the oven with Brussels sprouts—our favorites. Today we’ll stroll downtown and check out the holiday fair at the Community Center and see if we can pick up some Xmas decorations and supplies.
On the marketing front, I was featured in two great podcasts this month. First, there was my interview with August McLaughlin of Girl Boner Radio, and yes, as you can guess from the name of the podcast, things are spicy on Girl Boner, so if you are easily shocked by words like orgasm, be fore-warned or at least prepared. We had a great deal of fun talking, and shared many laughs. Listen to or read it here on Girl Boner.
The other podcast was my interview with Megan Haskell and Greta Boris on their writing-craft podcast The Author Wheel where we discussed writing, love stories, book marketing, and working with an editor, not necessarily in that order!
It is so great to get together and talk with old friends about the things we love—writing, learning, book marketing and yes, even great sex—without having to fly or drive across the miles. I really love doing interviews on Zoom (and in person), so if you know of any great podcasts I should do, please let me know and I will follow up with them and see if they are interested. My podcast on The Boat Geeks is coming out soon!
Speaking of chatting about our travels, we recently did a talk with a slideshow of our vintage Baja photos, and it occurred to me that many of you subscribers may have read Honeymoon at Sea on Kindle or Kobo, so you haven’t seen the full-color images that adorn the French flaps of the paperback edition. So, with no further ado, here’s the photos that are on the paperback cover, plus a few more from our slideshow.
This image on the inside front flap image always prompts a similar reaction to my editor, when she saw it the first time: “Oh my gosh, that was a very small boat!”
Back flap images follow:
Us, setting off on November 11, 1989.
Russel, all set up for a workday painting in the cockpit on a windy but hot summer day.
I just had to strip and jump in—the aqua water of San Juanico was so pretty and clear.
Reading in the V-berth; note barometer, depth sounder, and radio directional finder.
Interrupted in the middle of my beach read…Yes the sunsets are really this incredible!
A few more images:
I hope you enjoyed the short slideshow; see you here next week for more adventures…hasta pronto!
Oh, I love this. All of it. You're having a great time now (and then). ➡️ The pics of anothe time are just precious. 🤗♥️ And I will listen to the podcasts.
Great sex and French flaps on your book. Doesn't get much better than that. Can’t wait to listen to the podcasts
